The inspiration for the East Sea villa comes from Chinese lifestyle and the aesthetics of traditional Chinese culture. Fangyong Xie has incorporated natural mountain and river landscapes, symmetrical structures, Chinese grilled air conditioning outlets, and freehand brushwork paintings into the design. These elements not only pay homage to Chinese tradition but also create a serene and elegant atmosphere.
What sets the East Sea villa apart is its focus on accommodating the needs of a multi-generational family. With three generations living under one roof, the villa provides spaces that cater to the unique requirements of each family member. From a quiet study room for the child to ample storage space for the grandparents, every aspect of the design has been carefully considered to promote communication and harmony within the family.
The villa's construction materials play a crucial role in its unique properties. Logs and gray marble are the main materials used, with logs being the primary choice for environmental reasons. Logs not only age beautifully over time but also interact with the air to produce a natural patina. This makes them more durable and environmentally friendly compared to composite boards. The decision to use logs reflects the homeowner's commitment to sustainability and their intention to reside in the villa for an extended period.
With a total building area of 420 square meters spread across three stories, the East Sea villa offers a spacious and comfortable living environment. The villa's layout and design ensure that each family member has their own private space while also providing areas for shared activities and gatherings.
The East Sea villa project, which started in June 2018 and was completed in November 2019 in Shanghai, China, showcases the designer's dedication to understanding the client's needs and lifestyle. By conducting thorough research and engaging in open communication, Fangyong Xie was able to create a home that not only meets the functional requirements but also provides a comfortable and enjoyable living experience.
One of the significant challenges faced during the project was ensuring environmental protection. The use of composite materials in modern construction often leads to the emission of pollutants that can harm human health. However, the East Sea villa overcame this challenge by using logs treated with wax and solid wood floors treated with oil. The final environmental protection test confirmed that the villa meets all standards, ensuring the well-being of its occupants.
The East Sea villa has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges the villa's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. The East Sea villa stands as a testament to the designer's commitment to excellence and their contribution to creating a better world through design.
